Coq d’Argent in London

coq d'argent terrace

After a long week of working 9-5 from Monday to Friday, sometimes there’s just nothing better than hitting the town with some of my favourite girls. We wanted to try out one of London’s rooftop bars so we went and checked out the beautiful Coq’ d’Argent, near Bank.

Coq d’Argent is a french restaurant with an amazing rooftop bar. We only had drinks on the day we went but as we were so impressed with the standard of service we received and the ambience was just so lovely, especially for the summer – I can definitely see us going back very soon.

My friends and I wanted to make the most of the sun after having such a great day at the Blogger’s Ball. It was so hot and the sun was shining so we knew we wanted to go for drinks. To get to the restaurant, you have to go up via an elevator which I thought was quite a nice quirk to the place.

We went in and there was such a nice arch of flowers where other customers were getting their pictures taken. A few steps north of the lift and you’re in the restaurant and bar area. We arrived at around 4pm which meant the restaurant wasn’t open yet for dinner, which normally starts at around 5.30pm. So before you plan to go, make sure to check their opening times.

coq d'argent drinks

For drinks, the girls went for their staple glass of white wine. While Cindy, who blogs over at Chengri-La wanted to shake things up a bit and went for a glass of Aperol. As I am not a major fan of alcohol and only drink occasionally, I went for a virgin cocktail – a Champomi, which is pear juice, elderflower cordial topped topped with ginger ale. Yes I know, borrrrring but I love it!

I get really bad ‘asian flush’ whenever I’ve had too much to drink and it’s basically where I am unable to breakdown alcohol properly in my system so it just kind of gives me reactions of all sorts. The side-effect I hate the most is when I go super red. When I’m out, I love taking pictures with my friends so as you can imagine, when I’ve gone bright red like a tomato, it really doesn’t sit very well on camera.

Anyways, I’ve learnt t0 live with that now and I am 100% okay with it. Now let’s talk about the restaurant terrace because it is beautiful!

The terrace is laid out like a ‘C’ shape and is lined with lots of greenery. It’s like a botanical haven in the middle of a very busy city. There are a variety of tables to pick from as well; bigger tables with individual seats for more of a sit-down meal type of area and mini side tables coupled with white sofas for a more social drinking set-up. We went for the bigger tables as we needed a bit more space where we can store our stuff and goodie bags from the blogger event we went to.

Another hidden gem in this gorgeous restaurant is that it has a rooftop garden. As we walked through, we saw lots of people laying out in the grass enjoying the sunshine. It was amazing and overall we had a great time visiting this place. Coq d’Argent has definitely been added to my good books in terms of where to go for a nice meal or drinks in the city.
